Books I Really Want To Read

Lately, I haven’t been reading much outside of school. Between homework, classes, and everything else going on, it’s been hard to just sit down and really get into a book. Still, I’m eager to get back into reading, so here are a few books that have been sitting on my mental “to-read” list forever.

The Summer I Turned Pretty (Trilogy) - By Jenny Han

I’ve already seen all three seasons of the show and I loved them. I’ve read the first book in the series and would like to continue with It’s Not Summer Without You and We’ll Always Have Summer to see how the story plays out in the original version.

1984: The Graphic Novel by George Owell

I read the original novel version of 1984 in seventh grade and although it was challenging, and to be honest, confusing to read, I still thought it was interesting. My dad recently bought the graphic novel adaptation and I think it will be interesting to compare the two and see how the story unfolds visually.

Powerless by Lauren Roberts

I was really intrigued by this book after reading Hyelynn’s amazing review on it. The story is set in the kingdom for elites, Ilya, and follows an ordinary girl named Paedyn. I’m especially intrigued because it’s told from the perspectives of both Paedyn and Kai.

Strange Houses by Uketsu

This vibrant red book with a floor plan on the cover really caught my eye. As I flipped through its pages, I was hooked. The story is about a couple trying to purchase a house and the book includes detailed drawings of the houses’ floorplans. At first glance, everything seems normal, but the deeper you look, the stranger it gets, like a random dead space between the walls. This novel, originally written in Japanese and translated by Jim Rion, seems like the perfect book for those who like mysteries and thrillers.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

This masterpiece of a movie is one of my favorites and its original version, the book, is written by Jenny Han, like The Summer I Turned Pretty. I’m curious to get more of the characters’ thoughts and feelings, and reading the book will give me a better understanding of Lara Jean’s world.

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

I first saw this novel on my fyp (For You Page on TikTok) and it immediately caught my attention. It’s a romance novel about Naomi and Knox, two teenagers who live in a small town full of drama. From what I’ve seen, this book has a great mixture of emotional moments and humor and I’m excited to see how their relationship develops.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about my top 6 books I want to read, and maybe it gives you some new recommendations to check out:)

  4. I've read all of TSITP, and it was really good (though Belly really frustrates me), and I've read the first 100 pages of Powerless (I forgot about after going on a road trip) and I can tell you that what I read was really good!
